Step by Step Instructions for Updating Connex Software

Connex-B Software Update

Your Connex-B control can be updated using the Over-The-Air method described below in the instructions for software update on Connex-C.

You can also use the micro-SD card slot at the bottom of the Connex-B to upload the latest software much quicker. Once you have the data on the card it takes about four minutes to upload
into the control. The full instructions for this procedure are as follows:

1. See if your computer or laptop has a micro-SD card slot (if your computer has an older full-size SD card slot, you can buy an SD to micro-SD card adaptor). A micro-SD card between 4 and 32 Gigabytes is needed, anything larger will not work. We recommend that you have no other files on the micro-SD card and use it specifically for updating.
2. Install the micro-SD card into your computer, click on it in your files, and format it as FAT32.
3. Open a new tab in your browser and go to MyEvolutionConnex.Bryant.com
4. Click the DOWNLOADS button.
5. From the downloads page select Series B Software release notes. Click on the link below the picture of the thermostat (Connex V0456.)
6. Scroll through the terms and conditions and click yes.
7. Click Download.
8. Click Open file under the folder icon.
9. Drag the file TSTAT into your micro-SD file.

You are now ready to update the Connex-B wall control. Once you load the file onto a micro-SD card, you must insert the card into the bottom of the Connex-B with the label facing you; push it up all the way until it clicks and holds itself in place. The upload will begin, and the Connex control will be ready to use in about three to four minutes.

Connex-C Software Update

The Connex-C software must be updated using an Over-The-Air connection. An O-T-A update takes 1 ½ hours with stable homeowner internet or about 2 ½ hours if the homeowner’s internet is not stable.

1. Power up the Connex-C with 24 Volts to R and W, wait for the display to come up then wait about 4 minutes for the control to go into Demo Mode.

2. Set up a Wi-Fi connection on the Connex-C, either the homeowner’s internet or a Wi-Fi Hot Spot from your phone. To view your Wi-Fi connection status, touch the black area to the left of the temperature, select menu, select the down arrow, select the wireless icon, select view remote access status, and it will show
three indicators: 1. Network Status 2. My Evolution Data Server 3. My Evolution OTA Server, (Over-The-Air.)

All three indicators should turn green one at a time and remain green throughout the process. After 2 -3 minutes the Remote Access Status screen will return to the Demo Mode Active screen. While viewing the remote access status if all the indicators do not turn green or if they turn green and momentarily turn yellow or red, then your internet connection for the purpose of updating is unstable and you will have to start over, using the Hot Spot method. If all the indicators are green and stable you just wait for the thermostat to show a message that says there is an update available.
There will be no progress bar to let you know how far along in the process you are. You can view the remote access screen again as many times as you like to check your connection status without interrupting the download.

3. When The Connex-C says there is an update available touch the indicator and follow any prompts to start the update, it will take 3 to 4 minutes to update.
